We love pets, but Javelina Hideout does not allow pets. Big Bend National Park’s trails and backcountry areas do not allow dogs (NPS pet rules), and we don’t want guests to risk breaking the rules or missing out on park adventures. Even short outings can turn into longer adventures with hikes, traffic, or simply enjoying the park, making it challenging to care for a pet.
Keeping JH pet-free ensures a safe, stress-free, and relaxing experience for all guests.
Yes, you can have a campfire with the following in mind:
- You will need provide your own firewood. It's best to bring it from home, as wood is a rare resource in the desert and very expensive. It can be purchased in town, but it's very pricey.
- You will need to keep your campfire within the provided fire ring.
- Please be sure that ALL coals are extinguished prior to retiring for the evening. If the wind picks up (which it frequently does), this can disperse hot coals into the desert and start a fire.
